Darkling Crow

The darkling crow

darted back

across a massive

sculptural float of

gray nimbus.

The sun showered

the unknown water –

colored heads

of a cloud.

The dream bird

executed

the precise

diagram of

its flight

against

a thunderhead,

a cloud made

agog by the sharp

wire gaga giants,

outlined

anew by

the open sky.

Dwarfed

by the span of a

bright ocean,

far back,

the black bird

wheeled,

plummeted,

vanished…

…at the edge of

the pale green sky,

where dusk

made faint

the scattered

stars.
